Today

Today I found myself in all black

Attending what I found to be the

Most peace of mind

Funeral I would ever attend

But before that soul was laid to rest

I at last made a mends

I buried my soul today

Buried my soul underneath dreams

Unwanted love

Not buried in dirt or sprinkled on the ground for it to rise in concrete

But buried deep in a manly physique

Not ashes 2 ashes

Dust 2 dust

But love or no love

Lust or no lust

I buried myself underneath he who I thought I could trust

Was almost cremated with the feelings of him owning the urn that held my dust

But at that weak only me, him and my inter strength was there

My weakness lied still

A moment I waited so long for

Didn’t seem real

I was finally able to breath

So I took breathes

Looked at what once took the life out of me

And thank god for what I had left

Took a couple more breathes and continue to breath

And for every tear that hit the ground this time

Was of joy

A new soul was let free

A new mind was at ease

The old me I left behind

I was finally able to leave

Today

Today

I found myself in all black

Not for a sad wake

But for a life that was once destroyed

A soul that felt so void

You cant break me

I’m free

You cant change me

 I’m me

Longer need that dress

Threw it on the rack

because

Today

Today will be the last time he’ll ever see me dressed in black

Bringing resolve and closure to certain aspects of our lives is something that we all need to do, if we expect to move forward. Nice write.
